itr501:

I prefer it over the AEM, because I get cold air and clean(er) filter, all in a SHORT tube!

D:

Yea..its gets pretty bad, that is why I have the comptech foam (cleanable!)

Ried:

It used to be black, but it stood out too much. I was "the R with the black eye"at a local AutoX!

Evil GSR and itr501:

There is a headlight mount that is no longer used just under the intake tube. I fashioned an "L" bracket and bolted the stock mount to the bracket on the bottom, and the unused headlight mount on the top, essentially lowering it down below(near the motor mount) I also had to lengthen the coolant overflow line slightly. Yea a horn would increase flow, but unless you take out the air filter, you will not get any gains. The filter is the weak link and will only let so much air pass.

Yes, the flare at the end of a tube will increase pressure/velocity/whatever, BUT, keep in mind the air is then going into a box, then through a filter after that flare-so it doesn't do any good. This is why a few of the aftermarket conical shaped filters have the "velocity stack" within the filter. It wants to be at the end of the last part of uninterupted tubing before it goes through to the throttle body for the least tubulence.

hey chris....can you compare the performance to other cai's? better performance with the setup you have? i figure you can really feel the pull traveling at freeway speeds
His car does seem to be more torquey at low RPMs, but that might be due to his leadfoot or advancing the timing to 18 degrees .

Chris:
That looks really sweet. A quick question that I hope has not already been touched upon, but is that setup street legal? Im assuming it might be as long as it's using the high beam.....and the US might also be likely to have different laws than Canada, or even state to state.

thx.

99r: Pretty sure it is not street legal, but it is a nice set-up.

I have not had any problems with the law. The law states that high beams must be measured in lighted distance, not how many lights. I think the stock LOW beams meet the high bean critera LOL!!

If I were to be questioned by cops, then some driving lights would fix that!

Thanks for all the compliments...
