Header Question
I recently found a crack on my DC 4-2-1 Sport Header on my 98 R.
First off what could have caused this?

And what suggestions do you guys have for a replacement that won't break the pocket book? What brand header do you guys currently have on your car?
Someone suggested OBX, are those any good?
Any suggestions will help thanks.

a number of things could have caused it.....
i.e you went over a speedbump and possibly hit it......heat.......age..... etc. etc.

how bad is the crack?
where is the crack?
can it be welded? that would probably be the least expensive route.....
pics?

With regards to an OBX header: don't waste your time. They're crap. I'll leave it at that.
If you want a budget header that will make power, the JDM Stainless 4-1 Type R header is a great choice.

eh, just wear and tear, i guess. ^ DC sports headers don't come with springs. only baller ones that the rest of you R guys are familiar with do. to the OP, time to get a jdm 4-1. it's a step up that won't break the bank roll.
EDIT: good choice on the selection.

If you're referring to the Toda, those do nothing at all and they are there only for show.
totsie7944 was talking about the springs on bolt at the end of the downpipe.
In this diagram, it is number 21 at the lower left.
Additionally, some people like to run the header without the brace attached or even go as far as removing the brace. Normally this is fine, but bare minimum, you should have some motor mount inserts for the rear mount to reduce/eliminate any rearward movement and the mentioned springs in the system to give it a little bit of flex.
