Flywheel / Starter Problem??
Hey guys...I don't have an ITR (b18c1 hatchback), but I'm hoping you guys can help out.
Any experience with JUN flywheels?
I recently had my clutch replaced and a friend hooked me up with supposedly JUN flywheel (i say supposed simply because there is no markings on it).
Anyhow...it's been about a week...and this morning the car wouldn't crank. Accessories/radio/etc turn on fine. No clicking, no grinding (search seemed to bring up a lot of people with grinding problems).
- Checked connections...seemed fine.
- Took the starter to Pep Boys...they tested and said it was fine. They recommended I bring in my battery for testing (but it's only a year old
)
- I can push start the car.
I was thinking of just trying to jump start the car and if that works...get the battery replaced.
Come to think of it...ever since the flywheel/clutch was replaced...the sound of the car starting was at times different. Hoping I don't have to go back to a stock flywheel
Damn, now I hate having underground parking with crappy lighting.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

This sounds exactly like my old starter problem awhile back. If the radio/etc come on, and you can push start the car, that tells me starter problem. Whether the starter or flywheel is the problem though is tough to tell though but I would guess one of those at this point.
but i already change the starter when i change the flywheel, should i change the starter again?? the one that they change is denso rebuild starter, this is my second spoon flywheel now. do i need to get difference kind of starter?

I had a JUN flywheel and exp. the same problem. JUN advised that Honda starters tolerance on the teeth are inconsistent and is causing the "grinding" noise. BS if you ask me. I swapped out for a JDM starter and the problem went away. The teeth on the JDM starter are a bit different in size when compared to a USDM starter. Another method i've tried is taking a die grinder and bevel the teeth on your starter.
Hope this info helps.

so is there grinding noise or not? IF there is, you will need to change the Denso starter for the Mitsuba starter. Same thing happened to me with my SPoon FW, and when i changed the starter, the problem is gone.

that and maybe you installed the flywheel backwards...didnt think it was possible until someone i knew did it on a customers car
ouch... then he had to start all over again. hope this helps...but come to think of it...if the ground wasnt attached you still wouldnt be able to jump start. tried that once..nothing.

no jdm company flywheels don't work great with the usdm starters...get a jdm starter as noted...people have experienced problems with the jun flywheel and starter teeth grinding. I've read about it
