Finally Got It Back....
After a long hiatus w/no ITR, I finally have it back.
We burned a piston in the last event last season, and it's been out of commission ever since.
Putting break in miles on the new Sakai motor.
However, after not having driven the ITR for so very long, I am noticing things like how old the design really is, and the play in the axles after 80,000 miles on a car that has been tracked fairly heavily.
I have a feeling there's no way to avoid spending more money.

Now, don't make it sound like it's my fault.
Every racing vehicle took precedence, and Steve is still on the vampire schedule.
LOL... In fact, when he told me he wasn't even going to be in his shop until 9 PM the day I was picking it up, I got somebody else to open up the shop and I drove the car off.
Not sure Steve's even speaking to me at the moment.

Yeah.
We apparently pushed the tuning a little beyond what the injectors could handle. We're lucky we didn't do a lot more damage.
Dave and Steve have some awful pictures around somewhere.
I remember in the Porsche days that everybody was hot on cylinder head temp gauges. Problems like this are probably why. The water temp showed perfectly normal, all the while a piston was melting.
Yeah.

That, or the fact that back in the Porsche days you could stick your hand out the window to get your "coolant" temps

cool - sounds good George! Would an oil temp gauge have been any help in preventing this? Or maybe an exhaust temp or wideband instead...
Regardless, how is the new motor? What internals are you running? Stock?
