Finally blew the engine...
Well, last night we finally got the OBD2 to 1 switch over done, installed Blitz injectors, and Hondata s200B. Well, after a little tuning we were still running lean under boost-couldn't figure out why...STUPID CHECK VALVE!!!!! Well, needless to say, we broke the cardinal rule of "Not racing until finished tuning". We ended up seeing our friend Matt who has a 240 with a Sr20DET swap....and went for a little run on the highway.
There were 3 of us in Bruce's car(Ryu12341), including Crescent from C-speed and myself, and in the 240 it was Mat and his girl. We went for a run on the highway, which Matt pulled about a car lenght by the top of 4th. Well, one of us thought it would be a good idea to run again-not telling who....lol, and being that the 240's exhaust is LOUD as crap, we didn't hear the detonation. Pulled off the highway to head back home and do more tuning....when....*stall*. "Oh yay" we thought...lol.
So, we pull in the parking lot, came to the conlcusion we cracked a ring land, and tried to drive home with a HUGE trail of smoke behind us. We get home, pull the head....and ended up scarring #4 cylinder pretty good, pitting the combustion chamber, and blowing up the plug. This was ALL because the check valve was not removed from the MAP sensor- Hondata coudn't read boost and adjust fuel/timing accordingly.
So, now it's time to get down to business. I don't know exactly what Bruce will do- probably 9.5:1 slugs, Eagle rods, and leave it as that for now. Hopefully the block can be re-used without re-sleeving. Here's some pics....

it's a good thing it blew. The timing sort of sucks, since Bruce has finals and I have to work- only one car
. But, we should have her up and running in about 2 weeks. I have to bring the block to my parents house so my brothers work can do the machine work.

it's our garage- which is the exact same as Crescent's- same neighborhood. But we actually have room to pull a car in the garage

pretty smart there... why did you go ahead and race when you knew it was running poorly? Or were you just looking for an excuse to tear down the motor?

the thing is, it was running better than before when we had VAFC tuned and all...but at max boost, it was running lean. Short rips from 1 to 2 seemed good...but long pulls like 3rd and 4th gear put too much on it.
It's a good excuse too

thanks Ryan...I'll remember that. One time we got healthy and tried using plastic Kirkland Signature water bottle...but that didn't work either.
Sorry to hear about your car man! I see it at civic field all the time, and I sit and stare at it =P. My car is broken at the time so I feel your pain!
