no no no first and foremost he needs to make sure he has gas in the car and pressure from the fuel pump. disconnect the fuel line, put it in a cup, and turn the key to ON but dont try to start it. see if gas comes out.

i was kinda thinking a bad ignition switch...you check all the fuses?
