Default COMPTECH Header????

What do you think of it for the ITR, I would like to go TODA - if your going to do it once go for it. But the comptech seems like the non- pain in the ****. It bolts up with no mods - plus great dyno'd gains. Every JDM header requires 2.5 cat, the honda 4-1 jdm header needs heat shields to look legit. Yada yada yada you see where I'm going. Your feedback is always a pleasure. Thanks - have a cold one on me for all that participate.

I've had both, and while I don't care about getting a little more dirty or having it look stock, I'd take the larger header anyway.

Youll see better gains with a header that has a 2.5" collector. The comptech is a nice piece though. Might want to consider a USDM mugen too, just for a variety of choices.

Just some info about the Comp Tech piece at the header test. It was the only stock bolt on header tested (except the stock manifold) and therefore needed it's own test pipe to bolt up to the 2-1/2" system used. The test pipe was stepped from 2-1/4" to 2-1/2" to bolt to the cat back system. A 2-1/4" flex joint works perfectly on a 2" collector donut. All the other headers had JDM type collectors and used a full 2-1/2" test pipe.

the comptech for the money is a very nice. sure it does not make as much power as some other headers. but, like you mentioned earlier you dont need to buy another cat (at least for now)

you can find some of them used in the 350 ballpark range

what other kind of mods are you going to be doing on your car?

if doing more agressive cams, then i would at least get the jdm 4-1 header. otherwise, if you are going to just get I/H/E compech

Leaving the exhaust and cat stock, would a Comptech be preferable to the DC JDM (similar price?) with 2.5" adapter?

My stock header is cracked and I keep going back and forth on this. My interpretation of the great header test is that I lust for the Spoon but am reluctant to pay for it, I wonder if the Type One is just about as good for less, I wonder if the DC JDM is just about as good for even less, and I wonder if the Comptech is pretty decent after all and the safest bet. With the, say, $500 I could save by getting the Comptech instead of the Spoon, I could get, say, a set of K1 rims, and I wouldn't have to worry about ordering an imported part (waiting, etc) and finding someone competent to bolt it on.

Go for the comptech and enjoy the extra 6 horsepower at the wheels and then don't worry when you take your car in for service!

I would like to get the Toda B's but that's a wole other topic I need to post. I want my Type R to have a higher compression and toda seems to work well I think? I want to eventually have a street/track ready car. Any help in making that come together comment wise please post.

Toda header if you plan to get toda cams. Post earlier today, a guy gained 14whp over his stock header, just by bolting in on! great gains.. and earlier in this post, at least get a JDM 4-1 if you plan to get cams.

good luck, i was in the same dilemma, but budget permitting, i went with the JDM 4-1
