Default compression test question

I just had a quick question, there's a Type R for sale on thepartstrader going for 12,500. He said his compression test read 195 across the board, is this still a strong motor?

what numbers would u expect to see on a good motor?

if he did it right...that sounds like GSR compression

ITRs are usually above 210...

at least its consistent for all 4 cylinders

that is fine. Consistency is slightly more important than overall compression. Lets put it this way; I'd rather have 195 across than 210-210-210-180. My experiences put B18C1-5s at 200-210. H22A was about 185-195.

When you do a compression test you wanna look for consistency, not high numbers. This is because your compression numbers will vary day to day depending on your conditions/location (altitude, temp, etc). So if your numbers are consistent across the board it means your engine has even wear. Usually if a cylinder is off by alot ( i think > 20 variance) then something is wrong with that cylinder. Also your numbers will depend on whether or not you hold the throttle down or not. I did a compression test without holding the gas down and got 210 across the boards, then i did the test again with the throttle down and i got 240 across
