Default Compression?

I plan on runnning skunk2 stageII cams in my R and I still want to run on pump gas (which is 91 octane out here in cali.) My question is, would my compression be high enough if I had JDM type R pistons with a mugen headgasket or would I not be getting the full power out of the cams?

1. Should I get CTR pistons with a stock headgasket and just get higher octane gas?

2. Should I trade my friend for the stage I's and just get the full power out of those?

thanks for and HELP or IDEAS

Where would you be getting that "higher octane gas" out in CA?
More compression is often better, but there other things to consider to make it street drivable. IMHO</TD></TR></TABLE>

"Full power" Well, I just meant the most out of the cam.

Also, certain shops sell 5gallon bottles of 100 octane gas that you can mix in with the 91 octane to raise the octane, but I don't think it is worth the hassle.

Anymore ideas

most people who want the "full power" out of their motor would have it tuned well.

Cap'm! I need, more, powa!

You already have decent pistons.

Mill the head two thousandths and buy the Mugen headgasket. Should bump you to about 11.8, which is easily within the bounds of 91 octane.

I certainly wouldn't go with CTR when 91 is the only thing available on demand. I think you can get very good power from Skunk 2 Stage 2 cams on 11.5:1 compression.

Mill the head a bit and bump that up to 11.8 or so and still be safe for 91 and no worry about Piston to valve contact or stuff like that.

Not say that the CTR route can't be taken but it's just more of a hassel IMO

there is also P30 pistons u can throw in there, with no milled and stock gasket, youll be around mid 11s compression.

i just ordered mine from A&J Racing for 150 bucks without rings, but they can be around for around 100 bucks at the dealership.
