CEL Codes ?
I have my car in for service and the CEL light has been on for over a month. The tech comes back and says it's a VTEC code (again) for high idling. They inquired about if I was racing the car, etc. saying that's it consistent with that and that the codes are "erroneous". The A-pipe is also being replaced under warranty *again* and they were very suspicious about that.
Interestingly, the CEL is actually coming on after cold start ups and about 1-2 minutes later when the car is being driven very gently. The previous CEL's lights were for a VTEC Solenoid, which they also said was "erroneous".
Anyone else have experience with these codes and what the possible problem would be? The dealer doesn't seem to have much insight.
fwiw-Since the first service visit, I replaced the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor along with cleaning the air filter (Comptech). The car just got 33.3 mpg on the way back from Topeka and seemingly runs fine when the CEL is not on. Puzzling...

They didn't tell me over the phone. I'm going to try and get more detail when I pick the car up later today. Hopefully, I can speak with the tech.
behind the glove box there is a blue two pin connector.
Short the two pins using a paperclip and the check engine light
will blink. Short blink = 1s long = 10s. get the code and get back to
us so we can see how bad the *** MONKEYS at your dealership are.

Got the car back and the code according to the Service Writer was "1259"
The dealer claims my air filter may be doing it (comptech uni) but it's been in there 25K miles now and hasn't been an issue so I'm dismissing that. They also suspect the A-pipe and will be replacing it (again). Could it be something else?

I dont care what those monkey service writers tell you. I want you to check and see for yourself.
Of course he's gonna say its Code 22(VTEC).
FYI, if you are driving and code 22 comes on, then you will be in limp
and your rev limiter will drop to 6000rpm. does that happen?

Absolutely! I've been losing VTEC about every third day for the past month with this stupid CEL coming on. It's off for the moment though
And next time I get a cell, I'll check it myself, but I'm pretty certain they've cleared whatever was on there already.
