CEL came on and I checked the code by shorting the wire attached to the ecu. It blinked 9 times, and there was no distinct variation in length between blinks. However, I do have a carsound cat, and over the winter ths happened to me before, i.e. it was the cat (which turned out to be defective) setting off the ecu. Could it be the warm weather or soemthing that is making the cat (which was replaced and hasn't any problems over the past 4 months) although fully intact, set the ecu off? Am i reading the code correctly? Thanks, just want to be safe before I reset the battery.
Long blinks are for factors of ten, short blinks are for the ones. i.e.
5 Long blinks, and 4 short blinks indicates code 54.
The long and short are pretty easy to distinguish from each other.
Worst comes to worst, go to an Autozone, or other place that will let you borrow tools and check the CEL code.
