Default Blinking Oil Light

Hi, I was driving today and I noticed my oil light started blinking. I pulled over, and checked the dipstick to find it empty. Of course then I added oil and the light doesn't come on, but what would cause my oil to empty out like that? I changed the oil a while ago so I don't think it's due to a loose drain plug or filter.

Any help would be appreciated...

Only problem is that I don't have a Type-R, just a LS. I post in the ITR forum because alot of knowledgeable people are here so I just need to find out what's wrong.

I have 96k on the car, and I went through 4 quarts in little more than half a year. The only thing that has happned to my car recently is a severe overheating due to a cracked radiator. Could that have damaged some gasket/seals?

How many miles did you go through in that half year period?

I'm guessing less than 6 thousand miles or so.

Just compression tested it with a sears tester.

Got 175 165 175 175. That should be okay right? This is on a LS...

just becuase the dipstick is dry doesnt mean the engine is dry of oil... you should add in a quart and then check it.. then use halfs or so until it reads normal.

your comp numbers are fine

Oops I forgot to mention that 2 quarts brought me back up to full. So I went through two quarts in about 6 months... still doesn't sound right at all. I put probally about 5-6k on the car since the last oil change.

1 quart every 3K miles is "normal". But you should check it every so often. Once you go low, you are potentially causing serious engine damage.
