Default Been gone for a while....

I'm not sure if any of you remember me, but I was a member a while back. My name was Corey ITR#625. I've been gone for a while. One reason, I never could log on and the other reason is becasue I finally decided to get rid of my ITRand my B16 EG. I was having to many problems with the cars. My ITR was burning over a quart of oil about every 4 days drivning it normal. I loved the cars, but got tired of fixing so many things on them both.

I traded it in on a 03' Cobra. Yeah, I know I might get flamed for it, but I'm in a different situation. I work for Ford Mo. Co. and I really needed to buy something Ford to stand behind my job. I didn't think I would get away with buying another import without it getting keyed or damaged some way. I got lucky with my ITR.

I looked into other cars like the S2000 and the 350Z, but I didn't want something N/A anymore. Plus I read alot about the Cobra and they are alot easier to get power out of them compared ot the S2000 and 350Z that costs pretty much the same price when you take off the A-Plan I got. I paid a little under $30K for it. I also looked into Supras, but I couldn't see me paying that much for a 7-10 year old car with out a warrenty and all.

I am very pleased with the car. It's quiet (ITR had a N-1) and it has a nice ride (ITR had 99'spec N-1's) to it also. Has Bilstein shocks, 13" Brembo's, very nice seats, and a big Eaton blower sitting right on top. Going from a car with hardly any torque to a car with as much as torque the Cobra has blows you away. I can't beleive how fast this car is and it is completely stock. All the way down to the paper filter.

I thought I would be missing the handling of my ITR, but the Cobra handles really good for a 3600 lbs. car. I really havent got too crazy on the curves yet being it's been snowy and rainy since the day I bought it, but I'm also a little intemadated by the car as well.

Just thought I'd stop in and say hi and see how everything was going on in here. Looks to me nothing has changed. First thing I seen was a post about a stolen ITR. I might have a Cobra, but I still have much love for Honda's. Maybe one day I will find me another ITR.

Yeah, I'll be honest. I wasn't sure if it was a good choice at first becasue I felt like a loaner around all my Honda buddies. I don't have any Mustang buddies yet.

I never worried about my ITR getting stolen. For the 3 years I owned it I never had a problem with anyone messing with it or some vandalizing it. I never had a alarm on it either and was always parked outside. Guess I was kinda lucky or something...

Well, I bought the hatch with the intent to keep miles off it. Didn't work out that way. I bought it with the B16 in it and did nothing but go behind the guy and fix alot of stuff on it. I bought it for $5000 and I put a **** load of $ into that thing. I replaced the exhaust with a JDM 4-1, Catco cat, and Apexi WS cat back, put KYB's to replace the blown GSR shocks, had a valve job done and had to have the head milled being it was warped.

When I first bought it, I took it to a shop that I thought would be honest. They showed me all kinds of stuff that wrong with the car besides what is listed above. things like 2 missing motor mounts. One mount was for the tranny. Found out later the the housing for the tranny was broke where the mount bolts too. So I had all the gears taken out and put in a used housing and put back in only to trade later for a 99' Si tranny. That cost me about $1100 for all the work and it still was not right. I had a knock sensor problem after they re-swapped the motor and they never figured it out.

The other reason is becasue the day before I bought my Cobra I bought my fiance a 2003 mineral grey Escape XLT. I really didn't need 3 car payments. I do miss both of my Hondas though.

I figured since I had a ITR and a EG I will build me a C5 powered hatch sometime down the road and have the best of both worlds.

I guess on a normal day you would get flamed for trading the ITR in for a stang, but I personally think its a good choice. Some of those domestics aren't bad, they can really rip on you given the right situation. I know how it is to have problems with your car all the time, and to just finally give up on it. Have fun with your mustang, and I hope you rejoin the Honda schene someday.

Do you think 2 baby seats will fit comfortably in the back of one of those 03 Cobras?

If you read one of my posts, I bought a 2003 Escape for my fiance'. I don't think we'll have a probem with baby seats fitting in it.

Thanks again everyone! I'll try to post pics as soon as I can.

If someone is sending me a IM, i says I don't have permission to use IM. I've looked around, but Ican't find how to turn it on.

Hey Mike, how you been doin? Judging form what I see in your post you have new car as well. Did you get a new S4? I also looked into a 2001 i think. It was yellow (go figure) and was already out of warrnty and were asking to much for it IMO. I think it was ike $36,000 or something. Do you still have your CW ITR? I loved that car.

I post on http://www.svtperformance.com every so often. Funny thing is, I actually met two other guys that owned ITR's before thier Cobras.
