Default backfire?

hey guys
have a JDM ITR swap done; with 2.5'' custom dual exhaust; high flow catco cat; jdm dc sports 4-1 header, aem cai, ngk wires and sparks
exhaust just installed; custom stainless with mangaflow mufflers.
getting slight backfire when i lift my foot off accelerator..
wondering if its the exhaust setup..or...?
how to most efficiently figure this out?

anyone in Cleveland, OH that could help..?

Peace

it's because you're running rich, which is understandable. tuning will get you the right fuel mixture.

surprising you're getting backfires with a cat even if the cat is an hi flow one.. It should block the fire...my friend are able to get a 1 foot long backfire with and old jetta 1988 only by installing a test pipe....

Are you sure it's an actual backfire or is it just a gurgling sound? The gurgling sound is common with any type of higher flowing then stock cat back exhaust.

If it makes the "pak pak" sound but only one "pak" is that still considered backfire and running rich? My car made that noise when it was stock with only a catback exhaust....

yea..only one 'pak' sound; no flames coming out or anything;
just the 'pak' sound when i lift my foot off the accelerator..
it is a custom built exhaust; could it be that its to much backpressure;
and bottle necking somewhere?
solutions? how to tune?

Thanks!

Check your TPS Voltage. I had a similar problem with my old Hondata Setup. Turns out the TPS Voltage was incorrect and everytime I let off the throttle, I got a put, put, put sound.

Now if I shift at redline, I get a huge fireball no matter what. Kinda cool, but I don't even get to see it, so what does it matter? LoL

Sounds similar to when I was running a 2 1/2" exhaust on my ITR, and it's most likely due to low backpressure.
All in all, not really much to worry about in my humble opinion.

usethe NGK oem replacement its alot less expensive than the stock denso's... and when your spark plugs needed to be changed sometimes it comes with a misfire check engine light like it is on my R right now...
