~ THE GRAVEYARD ~
I hate that so many of us will be able to post in here, but we need a thread dedicated to those who have either had their R stolen or totalled . I believe providing as much information as possible about the circumstances of the theft could be useful in helping others (new or ignorant owners) understand the risks of owning a Type R especially, but any moded honda as well.
This will serve as a good reference for Joe's registry as well. Thanks for those willing to contribute.
If you are going to contribute please provide the following:
- Date Stolen and Location
- Year
- Color
- Badge
- Mileage upon incident
- Modifications if applicable
- Theft Deterants used on vehicle
- Brief Description about the theft if possible including specific location, time of day and any information you feel useful to other owners.
- Insurance settlement amount
^^FOR THOSE HAVING TO DEAL WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY THIS WILL BE EXTREMELY VALUABLE TO YOU.

10pm-6am. Broke both windows and took off. Found ghetto part of Milwaukee over a month later. Trashed!, roof kicked in, every panel dented and ****ed up. door was ripped off and found in car. rear glass broke, winshield kicked in. head was taken, left block. suspension/brakes/interior/wheels gone. VIN # is lost from my records. I had taken the arm rest off by chance and was sold on eBay after settling with insurance. StateFarm, full coverage paid $13500 which included aftermarket parts and various **** left in car. DIAF thieves.

I feel sorry for you guys in USA.
It's pretty bad here in Australia but after going though the H-T forum for a few days I kinda get the feeling that you guys have to go to extreme measures to protect your ITR's.
removing spark plugs..... wtf?????
thats really bad. I wouldn't bother and just settle for the EVO8 or 9 because of some other guy posting that he doesn't have a worry in the world parking it outside.
good luck to everyone.

Mods were- Tein springs, Koni yellows, 16" JDM ITR wheels, OEM side skirts and rear valences, Injen CAI, JDM ITR header, Apexi N1 exhaust, Spoon wire cover and shift ****.
I had the Viper 790XV alarm on it with sensors, and it never went off. All I found in the parking spot was a piece of the door handle which was about the size of a dime or smaller.
I only had the car for 9 months before it was stolen. I orginally paid $14,000 for the car. At the beginning, the insurance company was offering me $9,000 for the car. I then went on here, itrca, autotrader and faxed them about 11 ITR's forsale from the range of $12,00-$20,000. They said they couldn't use that as a reference because it wasn't their own document. I told them to go on auto trader and just search 1998 Integra's withing any distance and they would see how valueale they are. I think the fight was about a month to settle with them. I also had to claim homeowners insurance through my parents because I had a brand new laptop, ipod, camera lens etc in the car. All together, with homeowners insurance I was cut a check for $17,000. If any one is wondering, I had and still do have Allstate as my insurance company.

-The car was taken around 7pm with the owner (my dad) at home and awake. The car is always garaged but he was doing some cleaning so left it outside for a bit. He went to move it into the garage around 10pm and it was gone. The car was recovered 2 days later downtown.
Not an amateur job but I suppose these rarely are.

The payout was something like 13.5K after some arguing.
I did some digging of my own after the event and got a fewtips on possible suspects. The car was found about eight blocks from one of these peoples homes. Gave everything I knew to the police. They checked out the house and confirmed there were a couple shells at the dudes address and his only prior was street racing. I got the idea that nothing could be done unless the dude was basically caught red handed. I never heard anything else from the detective and would assume the case is all but abandoned.

Thieves, they all need to be shot!
My husbands R is always garaged, and if we drive it, we are careful where we park. Always with cameras, and have 3 kill switches, quick release, and some other good ****.
This thread just makes me so paranoid though! =[

Eventually there will be no more street Type Rs. Such bullshit, I have a CRX and I am paranoid. Can't imagine having a ITR. Seriously would be too much of a hassle to own what with worrying about it ALL the time its on the streets. I had one of my cars broken into with my deck stolen, I can't imagine how it must feel to get your baby stolen.
Also, you guys should get a GPS tracking unit in your cars and a MP5 if you need to deal some justice :D.

WOW! This is INSANE! I LOVE the ITR... I own a EBP EM1, which in Canada is the MOST stolen car of all! I hate to see all these cars that have alarm systems and other anti-deterent systems, yet they STILL get taken!! I live in a tiny, tiny town, but now i'm SO paranoid about something possibly happening. What are some tips that can be given to us who want to save our precious Honda/Acuras???
nope been sitn here since summer 09 like that i guess told them i trade in my s2000 if they give me that and itid be on the road by monday!! its a same i have to push this thing in the shop everynight
