Default Zeal B2 adjustment problem

I lowered my car this weekend for the first time and found the rear driver side coilover is making this loud knock type sound everytime I go over a bump. (Both sides make this noise.. driver side is a lot louder) This never happened before so I think it may have been something I did.

One thing I noticed when I made the adjustment was the loose spring between the 2 adjustment locks and the top mount. Before the adjustment there was no gap, as the spring sat firmly compressed from the adjustment lock to the upper mount.
Is there suppose to be a gap?

There is currently about a half inch gap between the top of the spring and upper mount before I removed the axle stands. Once the stands are removed the spring compresses and the gap is gone. Could this knocking sound be from the spring gap?

The car currently has no wheel gap but not tucked. The front has about a centimeter gap, between the top of the spring and the upper mount after the adjustment. No real noticable noise like the rears.
