hey wazup im new to this part of the forum. i just got myself a 90 teg to work on, and i believe im gonna rum boost on the ls engine n swap in a vtec head. anyone every try this yet/know if it would run good/ect?

its VTEC, no H

there are thousands of threads on LSvtec builds so hit the search button and type in lsvtec

there are several successful lsvtec turbo engines, when you do the search im sure you will come up with several results that include build details and dyno graphs

I have a high powered LS/Vtec turbo. I could tell you all sorts of stories from a blown engine to the rebuild to the power but... ahhhh I'm just too lazy.

well i suggest rebuilding that bottom end before throwing it on boost the motor is 15 years old. but yes lsvtecs run hard even just striaght ls is real nice

OP: why exactly are you turboing the LS then doing an LS/vtec build? I would either do a nice all-motor LS/Vtec, or build the LS and boost it. Turbo LS/vtec builds are overrated IMO.

thanks this was the original reason i posted this thread, to get answers like these, to see which is better in peoples opinions and ect so i can get an idea to see in which direction ima go. any more opinions other than people like riktor would be grately appriciated.

Yes I post to help out people from time to time but not for morons.

Here is the answer you are looking for.

I've done it all. I went high comp ls, high comp lsvtec, high comp lsvtec nitrous, high comp lsvtec turbo, low comp lsvtec turbo.

This is what you're going to run into. You're going to do a monster N/A LSVtec build and sure.. you'll spend too much and get some decent power and then you won't be satisfied anymore. You'll crave more but you've already spent so much going high comp and what not that the only next feasible thing you'll do is go boost. We'll that's great but boost really prefers low compression (Yes it can go high comp with the right tune but at the cost of my engine.... I'd rather have done low comp right from teh get go). So then you'll rebuild your engine for low compression and you'll stick boost on it and finally at last you'll be happy... until you want more power but then you'll have an engine that will hold it and give you it as you upgrade the turbo, the injectors, add more boost etc.

High comp will be so costly and you won't get the speed or performance out of it.

Low comp and boost will give you what you're looking for and satisfy you for now but as you get used tot he speed and want more it'll be ready for you.

LSVTEC low comp turbo. Do it, don't waste your money elsewhere.

thanks was that so hard lol jp man but 4 real yea i admit i am a complete noob to the tegras, i know a lil cuz my friend had one with a b16 swap boosting but thats all the info i know. i never really looked into anything in the b-series cuz it would cost way to much to throw into the 7th gen civic i had, and would end up runnin up to more than a k series swap which i didnt wanna do cuz it would cost bout 7-8 grand just to do the swap and start wit 200hp stock, so i gave up on the civic and tryin to learn bseries info. so yo just to get a general idea im looking to spend on this car, how much you think it would cost to do a lsvtec low comp turbo like your talking about, oh and post pics of your setup, im VERY intrested in seeing it. and sry to get us started on the wrong foot, ight man?

Just wondering, what is your opinion regarding the cost+ potential of a LS/Vtec turbo as opposed to a LS turbo? Basically, why LS/V turbo and not just LS turbo?

Either go LS turbo or GSR turbo. LS/vtec + turbo will yield twice the problems and roughly the same results (and at 350+whp who really cares about an extra 20whp?).

You'll now get a 1000 responses ranging from stock motors to fully built race motors pushing anywhere from 230whp to 650whp. Base turbo kit will cost you around $2500 (new) and will yield about 230-250whp. After that you'll need to upgrade the pistons/rods and obviously get some bigger injectors and better tuning.

well i think LS Vtak turbo is a good build...it'll run you a good 5g's to get it built and tuned right. IMO i'd wait for some k20 mounts to come out (might have alread i don't know) then turbo that ****. :-D it'll only run you a G or two more. but thats just me.

well for now im just gonna get me headers/exhaust/intake/spray till i get the money for the turbo, n when i get more info on everythin else ill find out if ill do the vtec or not, and if ill leave it in high comp or low. sounds good or no?
