JDM engines just show sumthin like this: "B18C" but fo dif years the engines were made they have dif #'s (they're just not shown on tha engine) for example (for ITR's) there r "B18C1", B18C2", "B18C3", ect.
I heard about this a long time ago, it was from a interview with the head guy of spoon or sumthin like that.
also i think the euro engines have the #'s on them like usdm, but they got dif #'s @ the end of da engine code (such as "B18C3" or "B18C6") i'm not sure on that though

i read an interview with the head honda engineer, he was talkin about all of the b18c's, saying that the B18C4, was his personal favorite, I will try and dig up the mag and find out more

Apparently there is also such thing as a B18B2 also... hmmmm... trying to find the differences from a B18B1... right now all I can figure out is that it seems to be an Australian engine.
That link is speading bogus info because JDM GSR and ITR both say "B18C" on the block. Japanese motors do not have the C1~6 or A1/A2 indicators. Aussie/NZ motors might have that monicker but Japan Domestic Market B18C's only say B18C.
B18C - JDM Si-VTEC/SiR/SiR-G motor
B18C3 - Oz/NZ integra Vti motor
B18C4 - Euro Civic VTi-S ( this engine is also the engine used by Spoon in their EK/EG civics) This also has the dual runner inlet manifold.
B18C5 USDM ITR motor
B18C6 Euro ITR motor
B18C3 - Oz/NZ integra Vti motor
B18C4 - Euro Civic VTi-S ( this engine is also the engine used by Spoon in their EK/EG civics) This also has the dual runner inlet manifold.

a civic came with a 1.8?

of course there are inbetween models... why would Honda decide, "ok, we've got a b18c, and b18c1, so let's just call this one the b18c5... 'cause it's sounds dope y0!"

I read somewhere that the way to tell which sub-division a JDM
motor falls into is by the block serial number.
Because the engine code is always without a suffix.
Such as 1 million series, 5 million series, etc.
That tells which c? whatever it is.
But I could be mistaken.
