Window Molding
So I picked up a 98 Sedan to fix/restore/whatever... One thing on it that really bugs me (besides the tail light gaskets leaking and costing so much to replace), is the cracked/worn window moldings, see the picture below. I've seen other posts where people trim off the black and paint the chrome, but they didn't seem to have the part that extends up and actually forms the seal for the window. What has everyone else done about this? I think I found the right parts to buy from Acura, but again the cost is pretty crazy. Pretty much all 4 doors have this issue to some extent or another...
are these even the right part #s? What I see in this picture looks like the chrome part, but not the rubber seal part... Anyone know what the rubber part is, or if it just comes all as one piece? Talking about #5/10 and #14/16
Those are the correct part numbers...
#10 is the driver's side front window and #5 is the passenger's side front window.
#16 is the driver's side rear window and #14 is the passenger's side rear window.
The moldings are all black plastic, they fit over the chrome portion of the top of your door.

The part numbers differ slightly...whereas the '98-'01 sedans had part numbers ending in J01, the '94-'97 sedans have part numbers ending in 003...
Usually if a part number changes in the system, it's because it's basically the same part just slightly different than the one it's replacing, hence the minor part number change at the end...however, part numbers can also change because of model updating such as what they did with the Integras in '98...this is called a "Mid-Model-Change"...
Upon checking availability, the '98-'01 sedan moldings are still in stock at my New Jersey and California warehouses, unfortunately the '94-'97 moldings have been discontinued...
This leads me to believe that the early model year moldings will not fit the '98 and above models. This is just an educated guess based on the part number change, the current availability of only the late model sedans and the fact that I've worked for Acura for the past 7 years...

Have you checked out your local bone yards?
I know we have 3 sedans, 94, 95 and a 96 at our PicknPull, here in Kelowna B.C., molding is sold by the foot, [5.49] CDN, shipping to SC for those can't be that much.
I will be at the PicknPull this coming weekend, do you want me to have a look? 94
