Will this be a big problem or not???
Ok, so i was taking out my supercharger because im bringing my GSR back to stock, and when I looked at the fuel rail and the injectors, one of them had the tip of the cap cracked and part of it broken off. Now i dont know if this part fell into the engine where the fuel sprays in, or if it fell on the ground. Now I have already put my stock manifold back on and everything, and was ready to put in the fuel system when i found this broken tip on one of the injectors.
If, that little piece of plastic (its about 1/3 of the cap) had fallen into the hole where fuel sprays in, then will it go all the way into the combustion chamber easily and just burn up and get spat out, or can it cause problems and block fuel from going into that cylinder and just mess everything up?
There really isnt any way for me to get into the hole there and see if the piece is in there or not unless I took the head off and all to really get in there, so i'd like to know if i should be ok if I start it up and let it idle for a few minutes and then hopefully it'll just burn up the piece in the cylinder.
Oh, also, does anyone know where I can order/buy one of those caps. I went to the dealer and they said they only sell the whole injector, not just this little 10 cent plastic cap that i need.
thanks,
Martin

na, i dont think it would. What size are we talking here, 1/4 size of a dime?
Steel will not give way for a plastic piece, besides, it will get sucked out the exhaust valve in no time.

well it depends... I knew someone who sucked a whole sock through their engine (not a honda) and it didn't do any noticable damage. I don't think anyone can or wants to give you a "no it won't cause any damage" answer because if it does mess something up then you could blame them.
naw, im not going to blame any one person. Just hoping I could get like 10 people who'd all be like "yeah it'll F it up" or 10 people who'd say "naw, a tiny piece of plastic wont do anything."
This piece if it has fallen in is only like a 1/3 of the injector cap, so think of it shaped like a half popped kernel from the bottom of a popcorn bag, but also hollow since its only like 2mm thick.
Thats about the best description ic ould give. Im thinkin it'd just get sucked out the exhaust valve and spit out. Or if it wasnt melted at leaste it'd crack into a couple tinier little pieces and then spit out easily (unless somehow it managed to like damage a ring or something but i dont think it'd really be sharp enough to do that).

I would go ahead and take the time of taking the head off and trying to see if it's in there. I would hate for you to put everything together and it **** something up. A guy i go to school with left a hose clamp in the combustion chamber of a thunderbird and it fucked up the engine completly, I know this piece is alluminum and the piece your tlaking about is plastic but still it would worry me to have a piece like that in the engine. Take the time and take it out and if it's not there then at least you know for sure and know nothing will break.

i just figured out what im gonna do...
high pressure vacuum hose into that port. The mouth of the hose is big enough to put a full suction down and into the thing and it should pull it out if it had fallen in. Problem solved hopefully...
