why are pulleys bad?

Default why are pulleys bad?

i heard from here that aftermarket pulley its are bad to motors...why? search didnt come up with SH#$

I've never heard that pulleys were necessarily bad for the motor... I heard that they wear out the belts faster... Aside from that I've never heard anything else... But I'm sure there's a lot more knowledgeable people on this than myself.

Its not that theyre necessarily bad, its that it underdrives your accessories, meaning it gives them less power, freeing up a few HP. This can be bad if you have a stereo, use AC, headlights, etc. Using a few accessories at once can cause diminished performance, IE dim headlights.

Specifically it's the crank pulley people have doubts about. Crank pulleys lacking a harmonic damper to be precise. Underdrive accesory pulleys are fine, though as mentioned they don't do too awful much.
