Default why is this dripping here????

was underneath the teg earlier checking out my exhaust for leaks. i'm not mechanic. but is there supposed to be looks like transmission fluid or oil or something-not sure, dripping off the brushing- the one where the shifter rod makes its way up and connects to transmission- sorry for lack of proper terminology. but it was slowly dripping as if i had some kind of leak

Determine what kind of fluid it is and that will tell you where to look for the leak. I have the same kind of leak and it is oil. I suspect the rear main seal is leaking (not surprising for a 150k mile motor).

try cleaning it all off and determine where the leak is coming from. if manual trans engine oil goes in there too.
