Default What's Wrong

About a month ago my car started to idle really crazy, like revving up to 2500 rpms then dipping down to around 900 over and over and over. Then the Heat stopped working. Then the car started to overheat.

I've still been driving with it because most of the driving I do is less than 5 minutes, but today she was blowing dark smoke out the exhaust and smelled absolutly horrible. So I turned her off and left her in that spot. Came back about an hour later and she wouldnt start up. I had to "pop" start her to get her going. I'm pretty sure it wasnt the starter because the starter was turning and trying, the engine just wouldnt turn over.

I am assuming that the water pump went bad and that by driving on it the oil is sludge making it hard for the engine to turn over. I dont know much, thats just what I think.

Any of your opinions would be greatly appreciated as I dont want to go to a mechanic to get this fixed.

By the way, she is a 94 Integra LS.

Thanks

Here's a guess since there isn't much to go on.

Your fluctuating idle could be many things so I'm gonna skip that. The heater issue could just be the heater valve stuck closed not letting hot coolant into your heater core. But on a more drastic note, your heater might not be getting hot coolant because your water pump has failed and won't cirulate it thru the engine or heater core. Your thermostat could also be stuck closed and your head gasket might be toast.

The dark smoke out the exhaust usually means too much fuel, running rich. But could it be a mix of oil and water from a failed head gasket? Lets hope you didn't warp the head when you over heated it.
