what's this on the back of the intake manifold?

Default what's this on the back of the intake manifold?



switched to a aftermarket manifold and wondering if i still need this?

no, it is for the secondaries. vacuum activation

because vtec kicks in too early for an aftermarket IM on a stock ECU which causes it to bog

obdI [gsr ecu] will work fine

Yeah the air/fuel maps for a GS-R w/ dual-runner intake manifold are going to be totally wrong for use with a single-runner manifold. You'll definitely need some sort of provision for tuning, either a V-AFC or Hondata, or even a different ECU.

I put a new IM on my 99 GSR last year...i kept the stock ECU and it ran fine without the secondaries

you do not need it if you have a new i.m. just take the plastic canister out and bypass the vacume hoses
