I have an autometer phantom temp guage and its not working along with my oem temp guage. its not reading any temperature but when inspecting my engine i came across this part with nothing attached to it. there were no wires or anything hooked to it. any ideas what it is?

 

thats your temperature sending unit its just for the gauge!!!

 

yeah, i am under the impression that thats the sending unit for my oem temp guage. but i have an autometer temp guage as well. there are no wires or anything attached to that black piece. so im trying to figure out how to get the autometer one working.

 

if you dont mind lossing the stock temperature gauge you can use the same spot for the auto meter but if you want both to work find a the wire, is a yellow/green color and then tap the auto meter sensor of the top radiator hose inlet housing and it will read the same as the stock gauge

 

Well, i have noticed that i do have the stock sender. i also noticed that at the end of the black boot, there is wires coming out of it but like it got disconnected. i also noticed a yellow/green wire with the end of it just loose there as if it were connected to that black boot. but the yellow/green wire is also connected to a thick green wire. Whats the thick green wire?
