what engine will drop straight in?
will a "b" series (16a or 18c1) or h22a drop straight into a 97 integra (not gsr) without me having to buy shift linkage, axels, etc...????
i need help, im new to honda/acuras and any info would be great!!!!!!

you mentioned the b18c1 but said not the gsr??
you can grab any B series and practically all of your components now will work. The h22 is a different animal on the other hand.
and why not a gsr?

if you have a 97 then you already have a b18, the motor that is in it now is a wonderful base to start with and is becoming quite popluar for a straight ls turbo (which is what im doin this winter) setup. A b16 from what i have heard from alot of people is a waste of time. If you are set on doin a swap and stay in the b family i would try and find a b18c

Yes your engine/tranny is interchangeable with any b series.

yep any b series tranny will go with any b series block, the ls(b18a/b) tranny has longer gears then the gsr(b18c1) and x2 on stocker2shocker91's comment, you have a b18b if it's a stock 97 ls, goodluck

would this make a differance if the gears are differant

The gearing inside the trannies are different. Check the Integra Specs FAQ in the sticky at the top of this page.
They will still work fine, but you will notice different cruising speeds on the freeway.

my idea is to put in a b18c1 obd2 engine in the ls. and i dont really know if everything will just bolt up to the bay without modifying it.
qnd im not sure if i should get a b18c1 tranny or use the stock ls one?????
help me, lol.

A gsr (b18c1) with an LS tranny will be sloooow. Noting that there is an integra GSR, it will fit perfectly fine.
You should just turbo the LS. Youre not going to be satisfied with the upgrade from an LS to a GSR. Youre going to love boost though.

With a stock LS you would be somewhere in the 15's in the quarter mile, if you swap in a GSR motor and tranny you would probably be still in the 15's maybe a high 14 second time. Turbo is a really good way to go, its going to produce alot more power and can be pretty reliable if you get a proper setup. You could make 220whp+ easily and still use it as a daily driver for as much as a gsr swap would cost.
The GSR tansmission is geared for the horsepower range that the B18c1 was meant for. It keeps the the engine speeds (rpms) higher and takes full advantage of the VTEC system.
The LS transmission on the other hand was engineered for fuel economy. Therefore, the gearing is longer allowing you to attain the same speeds with lower engine speeds (rpm's) to attain better gas mileage.
An LS transmission on a GSR motor or LS/VTEC setup will allow you to attain better gas mileage than a GSR transmission, but it will not be suited for the engine's characteristics. When changing gears at wide open throttle, the engine speeds will dip much lower at the next gear and fall out of the higher horsepower range of the B18c1. Whereas with the GSR transmission, the next gear keeps the engine spinning near or past the VTEC crossover point, keeping the engine where it makes it's most power.
Hope that helps. I had a LS/VTEC setup with an LS transmission and loved it on the highway...but the gears were much too long when getting up to speed. I am however tempted to switch to an LS transmission on my GSR turbo. Just for curiosity's sake.
