what does ths check engine code mean?
P1457 Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Control System Leakage (EVAP Canister System)
i found that out at autozone, they said it was a bad gas cap and i bought a new one...could it be something else?

sometimes they say its because you didnt tighten your gas cap enough or you have a bad gas cap.. try keeping it tight and reset the ecu
nope it wasn't the gas cap because i reset the ecu by dissconnecting the battery and reconnecting it. after about 50 miles it came back on. does this code mean anything else besides a loose or bad gas cap?
your evap purge is probaly bad.....theres 2 hoses that connect to your evap purge ....one hose goes the manifold and the other to the canister...and then theres a plug harness to the evap purge...check and see if anything is loose....

i think the evap can is aka charcol canister. if it is, its a black canister that is on the passenger side corner of the engine bay. close to the battery. its a pretty good size, maybe about half of a gallon jug.
all hoses are good to that thing...if i even found the right thing...anyone have this problem before? someone help
make sure you tightend the gas cap all the way down, then wait a couple days, the cel stays stored for a few days even after the problem is fixed.

yes, it could be something else. but dont just go buying parts and throwing them at the car. it could be the evap canister leaking, shorted circuit, unplugged vac line, etc. my guess is an unplugged vac line. should be one going to the manifold from the canister.
