hey u know that sensor that is on the back side of the intake manifold (i have a b18b) what is its proper name?? i keep wanting to call it a map sensor but thats the one on top?? N E one know??

glad i asked since now i know im also glad that i didnt listen to dumb asses like slow hatch and cal sonic here, its people like this (people who THINK that they know **** but really dont) that are the reason i didnt know this in the first place cuz they yap but dont know what they are yappin about

yea its def the idle air control valve. Tps dosnet sit on the mainfold it's connected to the throttle body. ie... Throttle Positioning sensor..... maybe thats y its on the throttle body.
Sometimes it's because of a vague description. TPS & IACV are both on the back there. A picture would be good...
The throttle-position sensor sits on the throttle shaft. Directly opposite from the throttle-cable drum, so it's on the throttle body (not the manifold). It measures the physical position of the throttle.
The idle-air-control valve is a small motorized valve on the back of the manifold (it's not a sensor). It's job is to let a small amount of air bypass the throttle when idling. It keeps adjusting itself to hold a steady idle rpm.
