weird problem???? Please help
ok i have a g2 integra as my daily driver since my del sol is down for motor work. well i have a weird problem. it has a slight miss. you can pull the #1 plug wire and no change in the motor. yet you pull #2, 3 or 4 and the motor almost dies. so something is funny with the #1 cylinder. it is getting a spark i change the plugs and wires and its not there. you can put a screwdrive up to the injector and it is poping. now here is the kicker. anything higher than 1500 rpms and the motor runs great no miss not hesitation, or bogging nothing at all. anyone have any ideas? im open for any sugestions. thanks in advance.
You did not mention the cap and rotor, but we'll assume that you changed those while you were changing the other igniton items, and we'll assume you used oem stuff too. (hint, hint)
Here's some things to check: we need to know compression specs for sure, a weak cyl. will often only show at idle, and then clean up at higher rpms.
Tight valves can also do this, and may not show up on the compression test, either. So adjusting the valves and verify everything there is a good idea.
If both those check ok, start looking for manifold vacumm leaks: check the hoses, manifold junction to head, etc. (See reply to code 3 MAP sensor code question in this section for details). A vacumm leak could easily cause a msifire at idle, then clean up at higher rpm.
Finally, if your engine is equipped with egr, we need to disable it as well, and determine if it is dumping into the intake stream at the wrong time, and/or possible egr port plugging, causing all the egr to be diverted to number 1 cyl.
Hope this helps
