Weird CEL problem on 95 GSR
OK, I have a 95 GSR with I/H/E, CTR cams, Si tranny w/Quaife, VAFC and stock ECU. It runs great 99% of the time. When i hold the RPMs over 5k for any period of time, i get a CEL and my rev limit drops to like 6.5k RPMs. It only does it when im at part throttle. Full throttle at long periods over 5k seem to cause no CEL. The biggest time i notice this is on the highway, since i cant go over about 90 without popping this CEL. I tried to pull the code, but it clears when i turn the key off. Please help
You could have one of the following:
Fuel Filter Clogged
Low Fuel Pressure
Icorrect Gapped Plugs
Icorrect Ignition Timing
Distributer Components Faulty
Vacuum Leak in fuel injection system I-Manifold
Low or Uneven Compression Pressures

sorry to bust about you trying to read the codes. Just curious, how are you checking them. Are you sure you have the procedure down. After re-reading your post you said you can't get the code after turn the key off. I am confused man. Could be the way you are testing it, hence why you can't get it. There is a code to see if your computer is toast btw....did you know that??
Are you sure u are jumping the service connector connector correctly? When trying to check the code, does the check engine light even turn on? If ur ECU isn't throwing any codes, then the CEL will remain illuminated when the service connector is jumped. Or else, it should spit out codes. So, if the CEL isn't lighting up at all...then you are probably not doing it correctly.
