Default VTEC issue!

I have a 98 gsr and VTEC engages just fine, once in VTEC if you stop accelerating (holding it at a constant RPM) VTEC goes in and out. At first I thought it was my engine management so I installed the stock computer and Its the same issue. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with this issue. Thanks!

oil is always fine. It has done this since i purchased it three years ago. I just thought that I would look into the issue while I have the head ripped apart. So if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please bring them

I agree...the purpose of engaging VTEC is for more power, thus faster acceleration...if you're not trying to accelerate quickly, don't engage VTEC...if you need to stop, don't simply let off the throttle after VTEC engages and let it wind down, either shift to neutral or up-shift. You shouldn't really be cruising around in high-rpm's anyway, and unless you're accelerating, it shouldn't really sound like VTEC is engaging, it should be more like a high-rev sound.

I agree with you. I am not saying that it is a huge problem, hence why I am just getting around to it three years later after the purchase. I just want to fix it while I have everything apart. Its obviously a pretty abnormal problem, I have heard of anyone else with this issue. I really do appreciate the help

I am waiting on new valves, so whenever I get them in and put the motor back together I will make a video of it. I will be sure to check the wires and solenoid. How do you test a solenoid to see if it may be going bad?
