Default type r spoiler?

Will a type R spoiler mount in the same spot as a factory GS spoiler?

I am not sure but I know the TypeR badge will stick no problem!
Why try to make your car look like something it is not?

Yes, it sure will, with the exception of there being an extra hole where the light wiring used to go.

Or you can order a Comptech wing for better fitment.

Yes it is a direct fit, but you will have an extra hole on each side you will need to plug. The one of the right is for the LED. You may be able to find a Comptech ITR wing with LED, then you wouldn't have to get the holes in your hatch welded up or have to plug them. If you find one without the LED, then you can use the rubber plugs from your GS where the factory GSR strut bar is located, this should work until you are able to get it fixed.

I'm not tryin to make it look like a type r. I just like the look of the spoiler. So since you didn't know the answer to the ? then you should've kept your mouth shut.

Stop hating on him, having an ITR wing doesn't mean he's trying to front. I might do a type-r wing to accent my oem kit + I dont really like the gsr wing. Type R badges would be another story.

Exactly. I switched out my stock leather for ITR seats because A) they have more supportive bolsters B) they look nicer than leather after time C) dont feel like they're going to melt my *** during summer and more

The others already answered your question though, it will fit but you'll have an extra hole.

Like others have already said. The comptech spoiler with LED will fit with no problem because that is what I have on my car and it fits perfect. Go for it.

And I definitely agree that it accents the OEM kit perfectly!!!

I know you guys said that there will be extra holes due to the led on the stock spoiler but if those holes were filled with rubber plugs, would those plugs be noticeable or would there be anything wrong with doing that?

I've got a type r spoiler on my 99' RS and the holes are BARELY noticable. You would basically have to go up to the spoiler and intentionally look for them. Buy one and I'm betting you'll enjoy the look and that the holes won't bother you.

I've seen aftermarket ones on ebay for dirt cheap, with and without LED.

I think the absence of R badges, 5 lugs, and a sunroof will be enough.

That's exactly what I did on my car and like jamessh1 said, you will have to intentionally be looking for it to notice. I will most likely leave mine like that because it doesn't bother me, but it will be a good substitution until you are able to get the holes welded up.

This is an open board, and conversations can lead wherever anyone wants to take them. Just because you ask a question, doesn't mean that you can control how people reply. People should be able to contribute their opinions without getting flamed for doing so.

That's my opinion. You're welcome to yours.
