Default type r header

I just got a 2000 ls and my friend has a 2001 type r. I plan to do a v-tec head swap but until then i am just doing exaust and a few things. Will my friends type r exaust manifold bolt up? And also will it be an improvement over the stock ls manifold? He said he would sell it to me for $40, that is a lot cheaper then getting a dc sport header, which he got, so my question is would it be worth it?

Yes, it will bolt on. Even though the price is good, it probably isn't worth your time and effort to remove your stock manifold and replace it with the ITR one. Save the money that you would spend on a cat-back and spend it on a decent header and a high-flow cat.
