Default Turbo Help

Ive got a full setup for my teg including a Garret TR0759 turbo. Im running stock internals with a higher-milage engine that does not burn any oil. Im hoping to put the turbo on and run it without blowing her up, so maybe 5-6 psi? Its got an internal wastegate so can i turn the boost down? will 10psi (current setting) blow my motor if i dont drive it like a retard?

Ive got 450cc injectors, intercooler, manifold, BOV, boost controller ect.

There is no way to say an exact power/boost level that is always safe. If tuned properly I have seen stock motors handle alot of boost.

How high of mileage are you talking about? My buddy turboed his at about 130,000 on 8psi and beat on it like no other. It wasnt till after about 2 blown turbos and a few head gaskets that his cylinder rings gave out on him at 170,000. But oh well a b18b1 motor is just $500 dollars and only takes about 3 days to put in if your slow like us.

the internal wastegate on the turbo is set for 10 psi, is there any way i can lower it to 7? its a very small turbo, spools very fast but doesnt push much air out, maybe at 10 psi i will still be safe?

Its off a Talon, TR0759

Boost pressure isn't what kills engines. Power is what does the damage. On a stock D series the safe limit is 220-240whp and a B series is 300-325whp.

The best option for you is to start a new thread in the Forced Induction forum. You'll get a lot more (and a lot more helpful) answers there
