i have 54,000 mi..my car sounds like it pings on idle on a quiet night...should i get a tune up now or wait till 60,000 . or should i just put fuel injector cleaner...need opinions...thanks

 

Might just be the valves. A valve adjustment made mine run a lot quieter and smoother. New plugs + distributor cap & rotor are also a good idea; I got a 3-4 mpg increase just by changing the cap. http://www.thepartsbin.com has pretty good prices for the cap/rotor. Don't pay the dealership to do something that simple, it's very easy to do yourself. Just don't strip the rotor screw like I did

 

you are comming up on your 60,000 mile service which inlcudes:
Oil change
replace air filter
lube chassis
rotate and balance all four wheels and tires
4 wheel alignment
replace spark plugs
valve adjustment.
and of course inspect everything.

 

Im on 43k. When is my next service.....And what does it intail?

 

45k service
oil change
clean air filter (not replacement)
replace coolant
replace brake fluid
Inspect everyting.
rotate and balance tires.

 

don't pay for a new rotor, plugs, wires etc...

acura had a recall on most 96-98 Acuras for emisions reasons. After you get over 75K the dealer will replace these for you and give you an oil change. check with your dealer to see if your car applies.

 

what was wrong with the emissions?? my 98gsr has 42k on it.... would it perform bad? or could i just replace it my self?
