I believe Honda MTF is really good and so is GM Sychromesh

the owners manual recommend Honda MTF or motor oil.

my acura dealer near me gave me the mtf for free, and since the transmission was designed for that acura mtf, its worth using it

Honda or GM Syncromesh, if you drive it hard look for the GM Syncromesh Friction Modified, its good stuff.

Depends on your area and delearships prices. My local delearship has them for 14 bucks a pop which I think is alot since you need to buy 3.

Motor oil should only be used temporarily.

Do they even sell GM friction modified any more? I remember this from a few months ago.

Honda MTF...You'll only need two and half quarts I believe...According to the helms you fill up till it pours out and then tighten that bolt in...
Honda-Tech Member
this is very true. fill it up 2 and 1/2 quarts and it should start to pour out the top plug and its full. just tighten up that bolt and washer and your done

Yeah at my local dealership its only around 7-8 bucks for the standard synchromesh which is the same one you find at the autozone, but we are talking about the friction modified which can not be found at the local autozone and has also be discountinued at most dealerships.

Going to put MTF tomorrow and see how it works, although my rebuild should be successful
They no longer make GM Syncromesh friction modified, but they still sell the plain synchromesh
You can also go to autozone and pick up some pennzoil synchromesh..
I've ran it in a b16 tranny, my lsd type-r tranny, and GSR tranny and it usually takes away the grinds at higher rpms..
pennzoil is also slightly cheaper than GM.
