tranmission problem?
I have a 94' LS automatic, i noticed that when it's cold the trans likes to slip a lot. For example it will be in 2nd gear and shifting to 3rd jumps about 2k rpms.
Secondly, after about 3-5 minutes of driving the car will hesitate and there will be a loss of horsepower. I have to push the gas pedal all the way to the floor, then it jerks and then finally is responsive. And if i keep my foot steady it has "spurts" or "jolts" and the rpms climb up a little then drop.
What does this sound like it could be?

I know as far as the slipping goes there is an automatic shift control solenoid that might help clear that up. I had the same problem and that helped it clear up a bit. Also there's a torque converter solenoid that's might make it shift perfectly. I'm going to buy that part next. Basicallly I was told that these two parts may help it's shift better along with changing your fluids but it's might not help at all. As far as a loss of power, I don't know about that.
How much would that cost?
Also sometimes when i am stopped and shift from park to reverse the whole car jolts and there is a huge clanking sound it also can do this when shifting to D4.
What would that be a sign of? This car only has 62K original miles, but a lot of rust......

The car may just need a tune up (new plugs, wires, cap and rotor). It sounds like there is a miss in your ignition system sometimes, and the ignition system has always been a weak point in most hondas. Good luck!
yeah, I would check tune up stuff first because that's probably the case. The transmission solenoids are kinda expensive. Fairfax honda wanted $236 for one and I bought the other online for $140. I have the part numbers for them if you fix everythink and your tranny still acts up. My problem was slippin going into 4th and getting stuck in 3rd and also jerking. It didn't do it once it warmed up. Once you get your loss of power taken care of, this could be a start if you still have issues.
