Default Timing Question

How do you know if your timing belt is off a tooth or so. I am currentley having a problem with my engine whare it won't rev over 3000 rpms, someone suggested i check the timing, i played with the destributor and it does'nt seem to make any difference. If I was off a tooth would that stop it from reving over 3000 rpms? Is there any easy way , besides taking off the side covers and the valve cover to see if the timing belt was off?

taking off those covers is easy.
adjusting the distributor only does MINOR adjustments.

what did you do to your car in order for it not to exceed 3000 rpm?

if its a jdm motor that you swapped into your crx (like an sir1 b16) i'd say check plugs/wires. the wires that came on my b16 and my buddies b16 were so bad it wouldn't let the motor rev just like yours. as soon as i got new wires, ran perfect. then i went ahead and did the rest of the tune up for reassurance.

what motor is it?

it could be the motor/ecu combo that u are running....

when my timing belt skipped a tooth it bogged down really bad and the powerband was off
