timing off?
so i just got my head milled, and as soon as i got it back i put it on the gsr. so before i sent it off i did do the timing and everything was at tdc. so when i got it back the head was washed and i noticed the timing was off on the head. so what should i do? any help would be appreciated.
the timing was set on the head, but when i got it back from the shop it was all off. i set the cams were at tdc, but i dont know what to do. how do i time the head with the block?
There should be three marks on the cam sprockets. One at 9:00, one at 12:00, and one at 3:00. The 12:00 marks should be pointing up, and the 3:00 mark on the exhaust sprocket should line up with the 9:00 mark on the intake sprocket. Since your head has been milled, the cam timing will be retarded slightly.
To set the ignition timing, you will need a timing light.
