I have a 2000 b18b1 ls, im throwing code 4 which is the crank position sensor, where is it located? Some say by the crank pully some people are telling me the distributor. I need to know. Is it easier just to replace the distributor? please let me know quick my car wont rev pass 3,500 rpm. thanks in advance.

do obd1 cars have the sensor that is by the timing belt that crank position sensor? because I have a 2000 ls b18b1 but it is a swap and im running it on an obd1 ecu. So could it be that my distributor is bad? because people have told me that the obd1 ecu will delete that sensor and its like it isn't there so its going to be my distributor. What distributors fit the obd2b b18b1?
It was confusing reading your messages, but I get this.
motor: 2000 LS B18B1
ECU: OBD1 P74?
Car: ?
Any OBD2B non-VTEC Bseries distributor will work.
Becuase you have an OBD1 ecu, it does not have a Crank Position Sensor input.

my car is a civic 1999 ex, which is obd2b like the 2000 ls b18b1. im using the engine harness from the car. so the engine harness is from my d16y8.
All OBD1 and OBD2 engines have a CKP sensor in the distributor
USDM OBD2 engines have a CKF sensor on the oil pump in addition to the CKP sensor. The CKF sensor never replace the CKP sensor, it mearly suplemented it.
i believe if you use a jumper harness to go to obd1 it wont throw a code if its not plugged in. at least that was my case. 00 gsr in 97 hatch modified stock harness then obd2a to obd1 using chipped p28.

ok so i changed my ecu from a stock obd1 p74 to a chipped obd1 p06. I noticed that the check engine light still came on, but it always comes on in the morning and is in limp mode because of the cel code 4, but after i have driven it a few times and started it a few times, when i start it it starts normal and no cel, and everything works fine. but for some reason in the morning i will get the cel and usually for only half the day until its been running and started a few times, then it goes away. I have ordered a distributor already. but could their be something else wrong. once again its a 2000 ls b18b1 obd2b swap into a 1999 civic ex using the stock civic engine harness throwing code 4. help please
will a jdm LS ecu fix the problem? i know you can run a JDM ITR ecu to fix this if you have a USDM ITR since the JDM ecu ignores this as well as the second o2
