Default Thoughts on multiple resonators...

I have a 96 Integra gsr 4 door. I am running a cheap 4 to 1 header and a factory cat. Yesterday I had a vibrant flat black muffler welded on along with a 18 inch resonator. It is wisper quiet at about 4000 rpm but droans pretty bad from 2800 to 3800.

I am considering having an additional 18 inch resonator welded in. Would this be a good idea? Would it quiet the droan down?

It will help, but then you start restricting flow, kinda defeats the purpose of installing an header and an exhaust

So do you think adding another will cut down the droan?

it suld.. i have a turbo car and im going to be putting a 22" resonator and a 12" resonator with a muffler.. i want it to be fairly quiet so i will be nicer to drive on free way with the b16 trans.. and it will attract alot less attention from the cops..

Yea it will quiet it down.. but you'll lose a lot of higher end power due to massive amounts of resistance. Can you explain this droan more? I have the same Vibrant muffler and a much smaller resonator with an oem cat and it is quiet as a mouse until changeover. Something doesn't seem right.. it shouldn't get quieter as you rev higher. Just my .02

I wonder if it is because of my header?

It is a really low pitch droan that just resonates pretty badly in the car.

I had another 18" resonator welded on today and it really cut down on the sound.

Well after another 50 miles on the car I can say that the additional resonator did the trick. The car is now very quiet at cruising level...but sounds mean as crap above 6000 rpm. At idle, you can barely even tell it has an exhaust.

4-1 header, factory cat, 2 18" resonators, and vibrant flat black muffler.

Two thumbs up from me.

No pics. Could jack car up and take some I suppose.

Had room for another 12" also if I wanted to add one. They are pretty much back to back...maybe 2" of pipe between the first and second resonator.

uuuh, Resonators dont restrict any flow at all. So it's okay to have them.

Remember though. the longer the resonator, the better. Because the longer the resonator, the more work it'll do taking away the crap noise.
