Default Thinking about going Boost. Please help

Hey everyone. I was thinking about ,aking power the other day and just came to mind that maybe going turbo would be the ebst way to make power. I want to at least make 350 on a stock gsr block and be reliable. What I need help with is what all is needed to making a stock Gsr motor turbo? What are the major and most important tips. Every single detail please. I would greatly appreciate the help from those who have had experience in the boost area.

I was looking around and saw this kit what do you think?

that kit is nice but for $4000 you can go boost on custom setup which will save you alot of money and u can add all the rest into your motor..probely less than $1500 you can build your own kit...just my opinion btw

if u could afford that 4 grand, , but with that $$ u can piece your own kit, plus u can use the rest for tuning which is most crucial especially since your running a complete stock motor. 350 is a lotta power btw, upgrade ur suspension to withstand all that power to the ground, but if u want fun and driveability and good speed, 260-300whp in a civic or integra is good enough for street or daily driver. Anything over u may wanna consider the track.

Yea, that kit is $4,000 and you still need to get yourself a stand alone ecu management thats going to set you back another thousand including getting it tuned.
Your better off just pieceing it together yourself, Just look thru ebay, craigslist and make sure you get brand name stuff, no **** from china!!
Im sure you can get you a good set up for the HP your looking for for under $2000.

I have to agree with everyone else input..350 is alot for street, and it would be best to peice your own kit along with checkign the fi forums. I would look around in the classifieds they have stuff circulating all the time..

looks like you're just going to go with a bolt on kit....no engine build/internals, extensive tuning, etc.

first thing's first, you need to make sure your motor/transmission is at least up to OEM snuff.... fluids, belts, spark plugs, seals, gaskets, pumps, etc. Also, make sure to accomplish a compression test and leak down test. It would suck to spend $3-4K on a bolt-on turbo kit and then have one of your already tired cylinders die on you from the boost.

as far as your transmission/drivetrain is concerned, make sure your current clutch as well as your axles/cv boots are up to the "350+ hp" task.....etc etc etc etc.

bolt-on turbo kits are rarely just "bolted-on" by themselves (with no extras) if done properly.

one of my friends has a fully built gsr turbo, pushing about 375+ with a big turbo pushing around 13+psi, he himself said he could barely drive the car on the street, he would be spinning both tires all the way to the end of 3rd gear. Steering is difficult, car shakes and once you take off you can even feel the car lifting up. He even said it aint fun if you dont have full control.
