Default thermostat

hey everyone. i was wondering if you could help me out? my thermostat went to **** and now my engine temp gauge is reading C. is my engine actually overheating because the coolant isn't staying in the engine long enough to absorb the heat?

no. theres always coolent running through the block. the thermostant controls when and how much are allowed to pass through.

whats happening to ur car right now is the thermostant is stuck open, which mean too much cool coolent is running through the block constantly and now allowing the block to heat up correctly. when the thermostat is working correctly, is allows some cool coolent to pass through which creates the proper flow and the proper engine heat.

this is better then ur the thermostat being stuck closed. but no matter what, its not normal and u should get it replaced immediately.

thank you for the info!!! i wasn't sure and thought i'd ask. but thanks again, i really appreciate it. for the past couple of days my temp gauge was @ the C and my heater wouldn't blow any hot air. i'm just glad to hear that no real damage has been taking place on my engine. i'll make sure to get that fixed ASAP!!! Thanks Man!!!!

Word to the wise, replace it with a genuine Honda thermostat, it's worth it.

no same thing happend to me. It is stuck open. Just replace it. Its really easy and there are only a 4 bolts holding it in place. Loosen the starter out and it will be easier to take the thermostat out. Replace it with a OEM one and your done and your car will run like normal again.
