I searched and didn't come up with any results. Today I did some maintenance on my dads mint, auto 98 integra gs with 95,000 miles. The tach has been acting very strange. The tach never falls below 3000 and usually doesn't go up much furthur, sometimes it falls all the way down when the revs are high. I've never had a problem with a Honda like this. The car runs perfectly and all the dash lights and other gauges work fine. I replaced the cap, rotor, wires and plugs and the problem continues. I have not yet taken the gauge clutster out. Has anyone had problems with tach grounds or anything like that? Thankyou.

maybe take out the tach and install it again.

usually it's a wiring problem from your tach to your sensor

plus it's auto right? no need to worry

 

what maint. did you do?

 

i changed the oil, filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor and cleaned the airfilter. I just pulled the cluster out and checked all the wires amd everything looks good. It is an auto but it is an annoying problem. Plus we are planning on doing a manual swap and turbo in the near future.
