Default Syncro mesh ???

I just got my gsr back from the dealer, long story, I posted on it a while back.

I noticed even before I turned it in to them the gears where getting a little rough, basically shifting to 4th at high speeds.

So what I'm asking is, what is that oil that you use thats good for your syncros ? I talked to my buddy w/ a DSM and he used to have trouble getting it in 4th and he used it, the syncro oil and he said it worked like a charm.

I use castrol gtx right now, this is a silly question but where would I pick this oil up ? Also what kind do you use ? I'm kinda embarrassed to ask this one, but will I just use the 4 1/2 quarts of the syncro oil instead of my castrol ??

BTW: I have a 2k GSR w/ 14k on it.

syncromesh transmission oil is a GM (yes Gerneral Motors) manual transmission fluid. apperently it works really well and it very good to your syncro's.

you can pick some up at your local GM dealer parta department.......but i belive each bottle is about 7-9 bucks.

Yea thats what he was saying ( my DSM friend) but do I buy the 4 1/2 quarts and use that instead of my usual Castrol GTX ?

Also, will it harm my motor in any way ? I only have 14k on my 2k GSR and would really like to use this on my next oil change...or I could just be all wrong..

Help guys...

next oil change??? you not gonna use this stuf in your engine are you??

i thought you were talking about the transmission fluid...........if you were then the honda manual transmission takes like 2.2-2.4L of fluid. so 3 litres will do.

Ok see I got ya, I was just a little lost for a second. I was wondering last night when my buddy was telling me but I didn't wanna ask.

I feel more comfortable asking stupid questions in front of my Integra brothers

So its the trasmission fluid ? I just change my transmission fluid and put this stuff in ? Or do I just add it in w/ the existing tranny fluid ?

ya drain the transmission fluid and fill it with whatever oil you like.

i havent used the GM syncromesh but i hear it's pretty good.

currently i use Honda MTF (Manual Transmission Fluid) and it also works good. i recall some HT.com member stating the GM syncromesh seems to be a little better than the honda stuff.........i feel that as long as you change it frequently you shouldent have a problem with any oil.

p.s. stay away from synthetic oil's in the transmission.
