If I <U>just </U>get neuspeed coilovers for my 96' RS, will that be bad for my tires, etc. in the long run?

yes.. because you will probably go around corners much faster..

but if you drive the same, do an alignment on your car (back to factory specs on camber and toe) you should not notice a difference.

if your camber is bad, then yes it will make your tires wear faster. it might be wise to invest in a camber kit and alignment with those springs.
