stripped bolt...
Ok, I stripped the right most bolt that holds down the stock intake. I think the thread has been stripped cause i try to twist it cw and ccw and it just keeps twisting with no friction. So the threading is gone i think. How do i get this bolt out?? is there a way to just cut the head of bolt off? I just want to get this bolt off so I can install my CAI.....i've tried to pry it off with a pair of pliers and my hands are turning into puddy. any suggestions?
YOU CAN DRILL IT OUT WITH A 1/8 DRILL BIT OR THAY ALSO MAKE REVERSE DRILL BITS THAT YOU DRILL DOWN ABOUT 1CM THEN REVERSE THE DIRECTION AND IT CATCHES THE SCREW AND UNTWISTS IT. FAIRLY SIMPLE AND SHOULD ONLY BE A FEW $
they make kits that help.
take a very small drill bit and drill into the bolt... kinda shallow and carefully center
then you take a bit, kinda looks like an old school nail (looks kinda square and the ends are squared off...
tap ever so lightly the correct size bit into the hole you drilled.. then take a pair of vice grips or pliers and turn the "tool' in the desired direction and remove teh bolt...
make sure you drill perfectly center and not too deep or you'll break the end of the bolt up into litlte pieces and maybe complicate things...
goto parts store and tell them you need to remove a bolt that the head snapped off, it's a small little set, shouldnt cost too much...
you might also pickup a tap/die set in case the threads inside are messed up..
but thats another lesson

go buy a tap and die set...
thread the bolt through one of the circular die's and see what size and thread patter the bolt is... then take the appropriat tap (long wierd looking drill like bit) and find the corresponding one for that (dont forget to check for a metric or standard type threads.. i dont know if honda's have different thread sizes than american cars..) and SLOWLY HAND TWIST IN THE TAP UNTIL IT STOPS.. MAKE SURE THE THREADS INITIALLY LINE UP... then SLOWLY TWIST THE TAP IN WITH A PAIR OF PLIERS ON THE TAP... DONT RUSH OR YOU WILL CROSS THREAD OR MAKE IT AT AN ANGLE....
i think the instructions for tapping are included in the tap/die set...
just fyi.. the round ones in the kit are dies.. used to thread bolts that dont have threads and the taps are for the holes...
good luck.. and take your time... if you have to consult a actuall mechanic.. find a good one and just ask..
