strange vibrations
(yes, I've searched... a few similar issues, but no resolution)
The car is a 1998 GS-R 4 door. lowered with Type R springs and struts, for the rear I have the R LCA. R suspension has been on for over 10,000 miles. Car has about 110,000 miles and in good tune.
My car has developed a vibration. Here are some of the known facts:
1) Vibration starts at 50+ mph
2) it is acceleration dependant. In otherwords, if I hold it at 55mph, it won't shake/vibrate, if I accelerate, it vibrates.
3) the harder I accelerate the harder the car shakes/vibrates.
4) it is not RPM dependant. It will vibrate/shake at the given speed no matter what gear.
Where's have I have tested/ruled out:
1) tires/wheels. I hate the tires balanced and rotated, and I re-rotated... still vibrates.
2) not the engine mounts - I checked them
3) not the tie rods - I checked them
4) doesn't appear to the suspension parts... I checked them
I checked the axles.... boots are fine, there's a little play, but it appears to be within normal range.
Since it is load/acceleration dependant, could it be the transmission?
Thanks.

hmm..you ruled out pretty much all i can think of..check ignition, if you have after market wheels, maybe a spacer is not on correctly..lemme see. either that or something is loose somewhere...best bet if you cant find it, take it to a Tire Kingdom they do free vehicle estimates.Sorry couldnt help more
It's stock teg wheels. The strange thing is, it started all of a sudden. I drove 5 hours from Houston to Dallas last Friday night and everything was fine. Then Saturday night, we were going out to dinner... that's when it started.
What I am worried about is that it might be something in the tranny...
I suppose it could sitll be the axle... but I would hate to spend $150 to find out it wasn't the axle...

Well..unfortunatley what happend to me was kinda similair now that i think about it might be your clutch...on mines the springs collapsed and peices were hanging from the disc, I HAD A HUGE VIBRATION coming fromit when i accelerated, other wise im stummped bro.
