Default Strange problems...

Allright, some screwy stuff is happening with my teg. First off, I noticed that my gas mileage went down. Way down to 20 city 25 highway (was 27/30). Then today when I tried to start it, it made a noise like it was trying to start, it was oh so close to turning over but not quite there. I pressed the gas pedal a couple of times and it finally started. This was after I had already driven the car earlier, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't my battery. My first suspiscion was the spark plugs. Could this be the reason for the bad mpg though? And even if one or two stopped working, it only takes one to get the car started right? Well any input on this odd problem would be appreciated.

When I first got my '97 gs-r, I think I went about 270 miles before the light came on. Then it eventually became like 230. I noticed that my tank didn't fill up all the way sometimes. This is a sorta common problem for some. Maybe someone will come up with a good explanation.

How many miles do you have?

I would suggest a major tune-up if you car mpg has decrease that much, change the spark plugs(use ngk), dis. cap&rotor(a good brand), fuel filter and wires(oem if you can). Should cost you a little more then a $100 if you can do it yourself.

Or just do a minor tune up:

The spark plug and see what happen.

Just change the spark plug and

Right now I have 65,000 miles. I'm pretty sure the dealer I bought the car from did a major tune-up and replaced everything that needed to be replaced. That was about 2000 miles ago. I think I'll start out by replacing the plugs and the wires and see if that helps. I would like to replace them myself, but I don't really know how. Does anyone know of a good site with instructions? I'm pretty good with these kind of things, the only problem is that I don't really have any tools except for really basic stuff, so I guess I'll probably have to take it to the dealer. Any idea how much that should cost? Thanks in advance for any help.
