Default Starting issues

Lately when I go to start my car, I turn the key but it wont start, it doesnt click, or anything? Then I try a few more times, and maybe 3 or 4 or 5 times later it will start. This doesnt happen everytime but randomly, and its annoying. I am thinking its either the switch under the clutch pedal or the starter. If anyones has had this problem before please help me out, or if you all have any suggestions. Thanks.

P.S. It's not a battery issue becuse the stereo and the headlights turn on and stay nice and bright etc.

Your problem sounds like it could be the main fuel relay.

Also did you make sure your battery cables are tight on the terminals?

Where is the main fuel relay? I dont have an fsm. Also yes the battery terminals are tight and shiny. I just replaced this dist. cap, rotor, wires, and plugs as well. But Im pretty sure the problem occured bofore that, and it runs fine.

The main fuel relay should be under the driver's side dash.

Find the fuse box and look toward the left side of it. You should see a rectangle box about 2"X 2 1/2". It will be a bolt holding it to a bracket.

You can test it with a multimeter. I personally recommend replacing it if your car is more than 10 years old because thats usually the when they start going bad.

I am having the same problem. I think the problem is the neutral/interlock switch. I have noticed that if I pump the clutch a couple times as I turn the ignition switch it will start. So I just, in the past couple hours, bypassed the switch with a paper clip. I will try that for a couple weeks to see if the problem goes away. If I have no problems for a while I will order a new switch.

I used to have this problem also. My old Camry also had that problem, and my dad showed me this trick where if it happens, tap the starter lightly with a hammer, and it would always start right up.

Now the starter isn't as easy to get to on an Integra as it was on my Camry, but the problem is the contacts inside the starter are worn out. You can actually rebuild the starter using a rebuild kit that you buy at a Toyota dealer (Honda doesn't sell the rebuild parts separately), and it only costs about $20. I rebuilt my starter over a year ago and it's been trouble free ever since.

I will see if I can find the thread on it, I'm pretty sure somebody made a how-to, because that's what I followed to fix mine heh.

*edit* here we go, this was the thread I made when I was having problems, and then Bret came in with the pics: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1318816

The fuel relay? Fuel has nothing to do with the engine turning over? If the starter isnt turning the engine over your problem can be anywhere from the ignition to the starter.

Who knows, mine would do it intermittently, not all the time. But replacing the contacts fixed it right up.
